Naadac Code of Ethics free essay sample

After reading the NAADAC Code of Ethics I have come to realize how any violation of them could impact either a client or the Human Services Profession as a whole. Any profession, such as the Human Services, that has the capacity to do so much good for an individual also has the same capacity to do them harm. In order to prevent such harm a code of ethics must be created and followed by everyone in that profession. The NAADAC Code of Ethics consists of nine principles. These principles, though few in number, are powerful in content. They help guide and maintain a helpful relationship with our clients and prevent a hurtful one. Some of the challenges I foresee having with NAADAC’s Code of Ethics will be easier to deal with than others. Principle 2 talks about client welfare. It states, â€Å"I shall not do for others what they can readily do for themselves but rather, facilitate and support the doing. I have a tendency to catch myself doing for others and not realizing that that’s not helping but doing. I understand the basis behind letting the clients do for themselves. A sense of accomplishment and control are necessary to a clients well being. Doing for a client what they can do for themselves is not helpful at all. Dual Relationships, as described in Principle 7, seems to me to be the biggest issue a helping professional is faced with on a continuous basis. Although I feel that I will not have a huge problem in this area, I know that this issue requires constant and diligent awareness. In order to maintain a professional and helping relationship with a client certain lines must be drawn. Even though we are human and imperfect, we must maintain a professional relationship with our clients and never exploit the obvious power differential that exists between us for personal gain. To do so would undermine the entire profession, our agencies, and the relationships we have with our clients. The only other principle I see that may be an issue for some people is number 8. Principle 8 covers the reporting of individuals that may be an actual or likely source of harm to clients, colleagues, institutions, or the profession. Personally, I can understand why this would be a difficult subject. Reporting someone to the authorities for the sake of preventing harm to themselves or others, however difficult, is the right thing to do. Some would call it â€Å"narking†, â€Å"snitching†, or â€Å"ratting† someone out, but in the helping profession to do otherwise would be a failure on our part to do just that†¦. help. I chose this field of study to help others the way that I have been helped and to give back to the world what has so freely been given to me and I gladly accept NAADAC’s Code of Ethics. When we enter this profession we are given great power and with great power comes great responsibility.

Family Dermestidae and Dermestid Beetles The family Dermestidae includes skin or hide beetles, carpet beetles, and larder beetles, some of which can be serious pests of closets and pantries. The name dermestid comes from the Latin derma, for skin, and este, meaning to consume. Description Museum curators know dermestid beetles all too well. These scavengers have a reputation for devouring museum specimens. Dermestid beetles protein-eating habits make them equally valuable in museum settings, however, as colonies of dermestids can be used to clean the flesh and hair from bones and skulls. Many entomology students have encountered dermestids as pests, too, as theyre known for their rather bad habit of feeding on preserved insect specimens. Forensic entomologists look for dermestid beetles at crimes scenes when trying to determine the time of the death of a cadaver. Dermestids typically appear late in the decomposition process, when the corpse begins to dry out. Dermestid adults are quite small, ranging from just 2 mm to 12 mm in length. Their bodies are oval and convex in shape, and sometimes elongated. Dermestid beetles are covered in hair or scales, and bear clubbed antennae. Dermestids have chewing mouthparts. Dermestid beetle larvae are worm-like, and range in color from pale yellowish brown to light chestnut. Like the adult dermestids, the larvae are hairy, most noticeably near the hind end. Since 1984, Mac OS 9 had been Apple’s primary operating system, but has been recently succeeded by Mac OS X. Mac OS X is a sequence of Unix-based operating systems and GUI’s developed, marketed and sold by Apple (Satyam). Mac OS X is user friendly, and is popular for its plug-and-play support, which means the operating system automatically configures new devices as they are installed (Shelly p. 408). As stated in the beginning of this paper, Windows, Linux, and Apple are the three most popular operating systems with Windows as the most popular of the three with 85% to 90% of personal computers using this operating system (Satyam). Compared to Windows, Mac is used by fewer people, but is more reliable and less likely to fail than Windows OS because of Mac regularly monitoring and the software and hardware add-ons. Linux is the least popular of the three and is based on UNIX, which has been used for more than three decades that now powers about 90% of Web sites (Satyam). Compared to both Mac and Windows, Linux is an open source project, meaning anyone can modify the Linux Code (Satyam). Linux offers great security and flexibility compared to Windows and Mac, but it takes a great deal of knowledge to install and operate the Linux operating system. Linux is also very much less expensive or even free compared to Windows operating system. When using a server, Linux is much cheaper compared to Windows because Microsoft only allows only a single copy to be used on one computer. However, once Linux is purchased, it can be used on any number of computers at no additional charge (Satyam). Windows can make it difficult for users to store user information and settings and switch to a new computer, but Linux stores the user’s data in the home directory, making it easier to transfer from an old to a new computer (Satyam). In conclusion, Linux is much more secure, reliable, flexible, and more cost efficient than Windows or Mac, but much more difficult to install, understand and operate, it is ideal for industry sectors. Bullying and victimization in United States schools has just recently begun to be studied(Milsom & Gallo, 2006). Many schools realizing the impact that bullying has on children are quick advocate anti-bullying programs and punish bullies, however victims of bullies are usally given no emotional support. Research on bullying reveals that there are both immediate and future consequences for the targets of bullying (Gottheil and Dubow, 2001). Students are more likely to suffer from academic problems, absenteeism, loneliness and loss of friends especially when the bullying behavior is severe and prolonged (Robert & Coursol, 1996). Children who are targets of aggression are also more likely to be depressed and develop low self-esteem (Gottheil and Dubow, 2001). There are several important emotional and social areas of concern that should be addressed with victims of bullying which will be the goals of this group. Many bullying victims have lowered self-esteem and self-concept – this will be the primary focus on this group. Research has shown that building self-esteem in a child is a key factor in bullying prevention (Fried & Fried, 1996). Interventions that are aimed at increasing student’s self-esteem help students identify and value areas of competence, provide emotional support to students who may mot receive much from home, help children succeed by teaching them real skills that they can use and help them cope by facing their problems (Harter, 1999). This later helped me immensely when I started representing my school team regularly at inter- school science festivals. R. D. The coca systems used for Transmission and reception have been designed and Implemented. We did parallel research along with our gulled providing valuable inputs apart from helping him with calculations. Against Human Cloning- Argumentative Essay

Cloning in general has been a rising debate across the globe since before Dolly the sheep was cloned in 1996. The success of being able to clone an animal brought scientists to wonder about a more challenging task, cloning humans. This consideration is morally wrong and should not be stood for. Some people seem not to realize the negative aspects that cloning would bring into a world which is already suffering. Religious standpoints, the growth of the population, and each human’s individuality are just a few of the supporting reasons that stand against cloning and support why it should not be legalized. Simply because there are a few factors that make some in favor of cloning does not rectify the atrocity that it would bring. One supporter that stands for cloning, Simon Smith, states that it would be useful to produce clones for fertility reasons such as infertile couples and couples carrying a genetic disease. This seems reasonable; however, there are other options available that are better suitable. Adoption, artificial insemination, and other successful surgeries are more appropriate, currently available alternatives. It seems questionable as to whether a person wanting to produce a clone offspring of themselves would be corrupt or unprincipled in wanting to do so. Wanting to make a replica of yourself would be a shameless act. There are supporters in favor of cloning such as Professor Robert Winston to make note that cloning would be an option available to those people who have lost a loved one. Have we forgotten our virtues and that with the birth of life, one day will come death? The structure of living and dying applies to every species. It’s not something most humans look forward to for themselves or for anyone they love but inevitably one day it will approach us all. This is the reason living things are given the ability to reproduce, to give life to the future. It’s a choice given, but not one we all have to choose. The personalities of humans and other creatures is what makes you care for them and produce a bond, not their physical appearance. Having a replica only identical in image and not in personality would not bring back a lost loved one; on the contrary, it could make it even harder for some people to cope and deal with. Individuality is another factor to consider when thinking of the outcome cloning would bring. This is what makes our world so unique, if clones become produced, we will lose that uniqueness. Having human clones in existence would be an insult to human kind and the distinctiveness of every human being. It would change what it means to be human. If life can be formed in various ways other than the ways intended, how can it have that special value that being human has? Clones could likely end up as another minority fighting for equal rights. Could you imagine what it might feel like to know that you were a clone of someone else’s being? Would you feel inferior to human life and all that it brings? Would you even have a soul? These are all questions that society puts aside that should attempt to be answered. The growing population in the United States and in other countries around the world is also a very important element to consider. Although it would be great to have the fountain of youth, it does not seem very effective. People have to die; otherwise the population would be a greater concern than it currently is. If people were living an extra fifty years or more, the world would become chaotic. Citizens of the U.S. already have to fight for there entitlements they should receive as elders. Prolonging the life of humans would eventually become the cause of their extinction. We consume far too many resources that we need to survive and are doing far too little to replenish them. Trees will become a thing of the past in the not so distant future. Without this mankind cannot survive due to the lack of oxygen. This along with the extinction of other natural resources will only cause the human race to diminish. Scientists after a period of time could even possibly evolve clones to be the ideal human race. The DNA to produce clones could be manipulated after advance research to make them have specific characteristics and possibly mind-set as well. They could possibly be made to have a particular function in life such as becoming an Olympic swimmer or even a killing machine in the army, programmed to go off to war. What Hitler was trying to accomplish during the Holocaust could become reality if clones were to be created. It has been proposed that in the not too distant future, cloning technologies  could advance to the level where they could even recreate a deceased individual in the adult form. They could likely even recreate there past memories and experiences. There doesn’t seem to be any ethical concerns for this, as twisted as the thought of it turns out to be. Everything happens for a purpose and for that reason alone cloning is wrong and should not be legalized. The saying goes, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. This saying should apply to cloning just as well. The vast majority of humans are perfectly capable of reproducing offspring; therefore there is no reason to clone. Along with the scientific accomplishments it would bring to man kind many down falls would follow only shortly behind. It may seem like many advantages could take place in the scientific community if cloning were to be legalized, but only resulting in having only a few benefits and many downfalls. Goals of the Preamble Essay There are five goals stated in the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution. I really don’t think overall the goals have been met to my approval. The first one is to Establish Justice. That means to me to have great law enforcement and to punish criminals. I give that a six in rating. There is a racial bias in the court system. Their was this documentary called On A Sunday Morning. It was about this black 15-year-old boy (Brendan) on trial for murdering an old white lady. The witness was the husband. The husband identified Brendan as the killer. The boy had too much stuff up against him to prove he was not guilty, but the husband just was so sure Brendan was the killer. On that day justice was done. They found the boy not guilty and the boy sued the police for beating him also. The police handled that poorly, just because he was black and around the area after the fact it happened doesn’t mean they had the right to treat him that way. I feel as though if he were white it wouldn’t have been that way. The second one is to Insure Domestic Tr anquility. To me that mean to have peace at home and within our country, I give that a rating of three. The September 11th attacks made me feel so not safe. The boy had too much stuff up against him to prove he was not guilty, but the husband just was so sure Brendan was the killer. On that day justice was done. They found the boy not guilty and the boy sued the police for beating him also. The police handled that poorly, just because he was black and around the area after the fact it happened doesn’t mean they had the right to treat him that way. 10 Things You Should Know About Gender in Spanish Here are 10 facts about Spanish gender that will be useful as you learn the language: 1. Gender is a way of classifying nouns into two categories. Spanish nouns are masculine or feminine, although there are a few that are ambiguous, meaning that Spanish speakers are inconsistent in which gender is applied to them. Also, some nouns, particularly those that refer to people, can be masculine or feminine depending on whether they refer to a male or female, respectively. The grammatical significance of gender is that adjectives  and articles referring to nouns must be of the same gender as the nouns they refer to. 2. Spanish also has a neuter gender that applies to one definite article and a few pronouns. By using the definite article lo, it is possible to make an adjective function as if it were a neuter noun. The neuter pronouns generally are used to refer to ideas or concepts rather than to things or people. They can also be used to things whose identities arent known, as in  ¿Quà © es eso? for What is that? 3. Except when referring to people and some animals, the gender of a noun is arbitrary.
